Here are two valuable resources that teachers shared during our late start Wednesday Technology Transforming Teaching (TTT Wednesdays). Both are very applicable to all grade levels. Hope you can utilize these resources in your instructional practice!
Smithsonian Tween Tribune
Each weekday, the site scours the internet for age-appropriate news stories that will interest students in Grades 1-12. Teachers can choose what grade level/reading level the articles are written. Teachers can sign up for a free account and invite students to join. After the read an article at their reading level, they can take a quiz about the article. Reading levels can be personalized also according to their Reading Lexile Level. Students in the same class, but who have different reading levels, can still read the CONTENT of the article and participate in discussions and/or answer comprehension questions. Very Cool! Could be great for Current Events reporting OR Nonfiction Reading Homework.
PBIS World
PBIS World is a website containing links to hundreds of interventions, supports, resources, and data collection tools, all of which are organized according to a type of behavior. The site starts with behavior identification and then offers suggestions for interventions and data collection tools. For those of us (everyone), that at times have difficult students whose behaviors may be disrupting to the class or prevents that student from making learning progress, this site offers some great ideas for interventions and classroom management. Excellent Resource to have bookmarked!
